Kadaltheeram Beach Resort

With a stunning view overlooking the blue Arabian Sea, the Kadaltheeram Beach Resort is best for a week’s vacation. This beautiful was completed in November 2005 and has been a haven for tourists to this part of the state.

Kadaltheeram Beach Resort gives you the freedom to stay in the middle of an Indian village next to the sea, but without the confinements of a usual hotel. The main hotel complex has three separate apartments upstairs. On the ground floor is a nice lounge with settee, chairs and a table. You’ll find tea, coffee, powdered milk and sugar in every room. Beach mats and towels, too, are provided.

The Kerala House in the garden has another two apartments. They are built in traditional Kerala style, with a coconut leaf thatched roof. Both apartments have ceiling fans and natural ventilation. Each apartment has a spacious bathroom and shower, and has a mini fridge, cutlery, crockery, etc. The veranda in front looks out onto the garden and sea.

Guests can make use of the kitchen/dining room that is equipped with a fridge, a two ring gas hob, microwave and cooking utensils. From the dining room you can view the garden, beach and sea. The Kadaltheeram Roof Garden is a nice place for sunbathers. There are a couple of chairs and sun beds and a nice nook to escape the hustle-bustle.

The resort’s restaurant serves traditional Kerala cuisine as well as international cuisines. It is open for three meals and also for snacks and drinks. Fresh fish and seafood is caught right near the beach – this makes it convenient for the hotel to dish up tasty seafood treats. Lobsters and Tiger prawns are the specialty here. You can chip in and tell the chef, Babu, to make a dish of your taste and choice. This experienced chef has worked in several restaurants in India and also for a couple of years in Switzerland.

We arrange day trips and longer trips for to other parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Enjoy visiting wildlife sanctuaries, historical monuments and tourist spots.
The beach sit-out by the shore has hammocks, sun beds and chairs. Here you can relax, sunbathe or sit under the shade of the coconut trees. There is direct access onto the beach through the gate at the bottom so that you can go for a swim or just a stroll along the beach.

When not relaxing at Kadaltheeram Beach Resort there are many things to do locally – walking along the beach and the coconut groves, visiting temples and churches, watching the big nets being hauled in by fishermen. Early in the morning you can watch the local fishermen as they go out in their primitive boats to go diving for mussels and fish. You can also go out with them, for a small fee, and enjoy the ride and view of the coast from the sea or even help them dive for mussels.

There is a local coconut factory just up the road where the men will show you how they grind the coconuts to extract the oil. Between January and April there are many local festivals going on and you can attend them. The festivals are alive with music, dances and floats. There is normally an elephant or two as well as a fantastic firework display on the last evening.
